LOTR Online Open Beta + Preorder

I digress from my early political post. I do not want my blog to be a political blog. I was only caught up in the moment. From now on I will not write about politics. Only gaming, music, and web related material. That’s what I am an expert on anyways.

So yesterday, I woke up around 12:30PM. I was still very exhausted. Since I usually go to bed around 3:00PM since I am usually playing one of my games, or doing research on some sort of subject. I roll out of bed, and head down stairs. I then remember my parents had went to work so I had to make my own lunch. Gah! I am lazy haha. I have the luxary at school to just serve myself. Then I somehow remembered the Lord of the Rings Online Open beta began today so I got right on the website, downloaded the client which only took 56 minutes for a whopping 3GB program. Damn, I love my internet. I also pre ordered it later that day.

It’s not the best MMORPG, there are still some bugs, more so UI bugs. The UI unfortunately is hauntingly similar to WoW’s. I am glad I didn’t play the Closed Betas because I am sure it would have even worse back then. I could of though, I had the invitations since I’ve tested for so many damn MMOs. It’s graphically different than the other MMO’s which is good. It has the LOTRs movie feeling to it. I don’t know how the lore stands up to it since I’ve never read the books. I think that Turbine did a good job on it though. They have alot of experience with making MMOs, since they created Asheron’s Call I & II, D&D Online (Crap, knew it from Beta), and now this.

I would give the Beta a 7.0/10. It’s good but not that good. I would not recommend this game, at least don’t pre order it. Wait a month after it comes out to see if it’s living up to hype then decide. Remember Vangaurd got hyped and it just sucked.

A war is a war is a war

I love how people are still getting their panties in a bunch about the “war”. Hold on, let me rephrase that, the war. By no means am I a professional journalist. I although was on the staff for the Light On the Heights for a good part of my freshman and sophmore year. Let us be clear on this though this is a war. Why am I arguing the terms and syntaxes? This is because I been hearing (for some time now) that this war in Iraq, the one and only war, is supposely not a war.

Another thing, this war IS NOT, let me repeat, IS NOT like the Vietnam War, sure there are alot of people against the war. Some of the tactics are the same. For one there isn’t a jungle. Secondly we got big guns. Always a plus. I don’t see any hippies in their colorful garb prancing around saying, “End the War”. Most people I know, just don’t think about it anymore. “It’s an unfortunate situation over there but all I can do is support the troops.” That is an accual thing my friend said. I then continue to ask them how they thought about it and they continued to say, “The president, although I do not see eye to eye with most of the things he does, I support what he is doing, which is keeping us safe, even though there has been a hell of alot of mistakes.” I agree whole heartedly with my friend. He is accually a Liberal too. I have nothing against Liberals, Democrats, Liberal Democrats or Liberally-acting Democrats. The same goes with the Republicans and the subgroups with them. I wont say where I fall and don’t assume I am conservative or Republican because I will call you: “Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. Wrong, Wrong, Wrong” (Dr. Perry Cox, Scrubs). Like I was saying though, I have nothing agains those guys who bash Bush, and are Anti-War. Just don’t whine about it, “Oh, my god. Bush is like the devil, eeeeeehhh. Oh, my god. He is like Hitler.” You’re a idiot if you make that that similarity. You have no justification for saying that or no proof, do you see Bush killing people in a concentration camp? Or killing his people? And don’t tell me he is killing the soldiers, because I heard that one, and I punch the last kid who said that in the face because it pissed me off so much. STOP WHINING! Jesus Christ, you are the ones who make this country unbareable not the president- YOU!. If you got something anti to say and have something against the war why don’t you and all your god damn tree hugging buddies put a stop to it? No? Didn’t think so.

I am not generally an angry guy. I just get angry when people say stuff like that. I know freedom of speech but think before you speak. Support the troops! Don’t make bad analogies, and ok you don’t like the war, fine. Me, personally? I support this is a war against terrorism. True story. Kill those goddamn terrorists. It keeps our country safer. I don’t think Borat is funny, especially when he is at the bullfight thing where he says “I support your war of terror”. Yeah, we strike terror into the minds of the terrorists. They know we will get them. Know why? This world doesn’t need people like them. Muslim or not. We get out of there when the job is done, or gradually, we should NOT leave too early or I am sure there will be more disaster.

Let me start off with who I am. I am Griffin DeCarlo Hamell. I am a college student at a college called Le Moyne in Syracuse, NY. It’s a private jesuit college… it’s ok. If I had a choice in the matter I would have gone to UCLA Berkley or NYU. That didn’t really come to my mind til I changed my major from History to English with a concentration in creative writing. Really, I don’t know what the hell I want to do with my life and that is ok. Who does really? So I will blog my life, my poems, short stories, web related stuff, music, movies, and more. Hope you enjoy.

Well I just recently got this wordpress thing and I am still trying to figure out how it works. I know what a blog is first off. Just not sure how this WordPress thing works. I am sure there are docs somewhere but I am too lazy to read them and I am sure I will figure it out on my own.

The first blog I ever owned was on on livejournal and I am sure everyone knows that the place. It’s like the blog version of myspace. It’s the emo blog version of the emo myspace. Yeah, I am not sure if you know that. I hate myspace it’s the immature version of something like I am not sure off the top of my head, I am a member of a few. One is for the young businessman, the young cultured college studen and so on. That’s the kind of site I wanna be on not some site where there are like 15 year olds bombarding you with friend requests trying to get some from you since you are older. I am 20 for GOD SAKES! Leave me alone and go back to taking your high angled pictures. Hey I have nothing against the girls who don’t harass me with friends requests who take high angled shots.

What I like about WordPress is that it is cultured and mature. I know I could have installed it on my server and I have done that before but I do not feel like doing that. I am ok with it on here but what I am happy about is being on the same site with my favorite blog, Motho ke motho ka botho. Atleast one of my favorite blogs besides, Lifehacker and Digg although that isn’t even really a blog persay… but it is sorta like one. Well it’s among the blogs I open every morning from my “blogs” folder quite easy in Opera, which is what I use right now, as well as Firefox, which I don’t use anymore.

Like I was saying hopefully I get this website off the grown and I get some readers. I rant alot sorry.
